Non-urgent advice: Extended Access

We are open on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm til 7:30pm. These appointments are especially for those patients who struggle to come to the surgery during normal working hours, 8am-6pm. There are appointments with a GP and nurse available during this time.

NHS 111 is the number to call when you need medical help fast but it’s not a life-threatening emergency.

Calls to 111 are FREE from landlines and mobiles

 

 NHS 111 is available 24/7, every day of the year

 

You should call 111 when:

you think you need to go to A&E or to another NHS urgent care service the GP surgery is closed and you need healthcare advice you don’t know who to call for medical help.

 

When to call 999

Call 999 for life threatening emergencies such as:

Major accident or trauma
Severe breathlessness
Severe bleeding
Loss of consciousness
Severe chest

Improving access to general practice: evening and weekend appointments now available

Gateshead Extra Care Service now provide additional appointments with local GPs and nurses. This service offers pre-bookable appointments at:

Central Gateshead Health Centre – Monday to Friday 2pm – 8pm

 

Blaydon Primary Care Centre – Monday to Friday 8am – 1pm & 3pm – 8pm, Saturday – Sunday 9am – 2pm

 

Jubilee Wing, Queen Elizabeth Hospital – Monday to Friday 6pm – 10pm, Saturday -Sunday 10am – 3pm.

Please contact us to make an appointment, the receptionist will ask you the symptoms before booking as some problems are not appropriate for these appointments.

 

By March 2019 everyone in England will benefit from access to general practice appointments in the evenings and weekends at a time that is most convenient to them. This is part of a national drive to help improve access to general practice and get the best possible outcomes for patients.
